Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
