From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the party access places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners parties.
Fans can anticipate discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
