One two-month cruise through Australia was terminated days after the tragic passing of an older woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on the remote island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the excursion for a break. The vessel departed without her and went back after some time after the personnel discovered the passenger was not present.

A major search operation found her person the following day.

Authorities are examining the tragedy, together with police and the state coroner.

Head of the cruise operator stated that passengers and crew on the ship were informed that the rest of the voyage had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and earlier technical problems".

Via official communication, he further stated that guests would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to coordinate the travel back of the passengers via private aircraft".
